Chorongi coffee factory, operated by the Mutheka Coffee Farmer’s Society of Nyeri County, is the delivery point for about 1,000 of the society’s 5,600 small-holder members, who on average have about 250 coffee trees per family. After arrival, ripe cherries are pulped, fermented overnight, then rinsed, soaked, and dried slowly on raised tables. Chorongi’s excellent management of these processes and careful attention to best practices allows the mill to consistently produce top quality lots across all grades and screen sizes. Their coffees are characterized by their intense sweetness and complexity showcasing bright citric acidity, juicy tropical fruit notes, savory and spicy undertones, and a full, silky body.
