Zelelu Moke

Mr. Zelelu Ararso Moke and his wife, Kasech, farm coffee together in the Yirgacheffe region, where their coffee trees grow naturally among other trees and vegetation. They process their coffee on the farm using their own hand depulper and drying beds, giving them control over the coffee from harvest through drying.

Because most Ethiopian coffee is blended at the mill level, coffees from individual farms are relatively rare. Zelelu’s lot gives us a chance to taste the character of his land and highlight the work he and Kasech put into growing and processing their coffee.

Their careful approach results in a washed coffee that is floral and citric, with notes of jasmine, lemongrass, and ripe stone fruit.
